Community Gardenshare

Community Gardenshare engages individuals, families, youth organizations, senior adult groups, civic & garden clubs, school groups, and churches in a hands-on effort to eliminate hunger.

Each spring, participants receive free, easy-to-grow vegetable plants (tomato, yellow squash, zucchini, cucumber and pepper). They establish these plants in their own planting sites (which might include raised bed garden, a tilled section of lawn, or large containers on the deck or patio) and enjoy growing delicious vegetables (some to eat and some to share) and the good feeling they get from giving back to the community.

Participants deliver a portion of their harvest to the Uptown Shelby market any time during the season, and we distribute it to organizations that feed the hungry right here at home!
