Poverty Creek Farm

In the tranquil beauty of the Blue Ridge foothills, a talented and hard-working young couple began to raise meat products to grace their own table.

They believed in raising their animals on grass and allowing the animals to interact with each other on the farm. They believed the livestock should be raised without steroids, without antibiotics or hormones. They did not feed them animal by-products.

Poverty Creek Farm 4From this philosophy and environment, Poverty Creek Farm was born five years ago. They are now marketing pork, poultry, turkey, beef, veal and home baked goods. They are not a “certified” organic farm but many organic practices are followed.

Jack and Dayna Causby were raised on farms and never considered another lifestyle for their family. To make her qualifications even stronger, Dayna was a 4-H Club member in Rutherford County during her high school years. She had the distinction of being tapped for membership in the NC State 4-H Honor Club. Only 1/2 of 1% of NC 4-H’ers ever obtain this honor.

Jack takes advantage of seminars being provided by NCSU and the NC Extension Service while continuing to farm full-time.

Dayna, with an associate’s degree in Agri-Business from NC State and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from GWU, is the ideal partner for this endeavor.
