Community

There are many ways to show your support of local agriculture at Foothills Farmers’ Market, from shopping, to volunteering, to becoming a paid member of the market, to joining our online group of local food enthusiasts. We invite you to become a part of our ever-growing community!

What You Can Do…

  1. Shop Foothills Farmers’ Market regularly. Bring a friend along.
  2. Stay informed about local foods issues and market happenings by subscribing to our weekly electronic newsletter.
  3. Become a member of Foothills Farmers’ Market (we’ll keep you fed, informed and connected). Individuals and organizations that join FFM receive a range of important benefits, and help support our projects & activities. Click here to learn more.
  4. Share your passion for local foods with family, friends and co-workers. Encourage them to eat locally, too. Visit us on Facebook, comment on our market, and recommend us to your online community of friends.
  5. Help us build a local foods culture though the simple foundation of taste. Through the act of eating and taking the time to enjoy a meal using local ingredients, people can taste the difference in quality and freshness of locally-grown food. Reach out to people through their taste buds. Join Meet Up to Eat Up, or start your own local foods potluck gathering.
  6. Spice up mealtime with some new recipes that feature fresh fruits, vegetables & herbs. To learn about scrumptious fruits and vegetables, their nutritional benefits, and how to select, store, prepare and preserve them, visit The Produce Lady web site.
  7. Visit local pick-your own farms, roadside stands, and wineries.
  8. When dining out, ask your server if the menu features local foods. If so, order those selections. If not, encourage the chef to source ingredients from local growers. These restaurants occasionally feature local foods on their menus:
Do You Love It Sweet & Savory Patisserie
    Dressing on the Side Catering
    Pleasant City Wood Fired Grille
    Smoke on the Square
  9. Join a CSA (community supported agriculture) or food buying club.
  10. Start a family or community garden and grow your own. Donate any surplus to our Farmer Foodshare® program.
  11. Contribute to our building fund, which will help finance a multi-purpose shade pavilion in Uptown Shelby to provide a permanent home for our market. The pavilion will provide space for 22 vendors (trucks and tables covered), men’s and women’s restrooms, manager’s office, a garage bay for the market truck, and future space for walk-in coolers. When not in use by FFM, the pavilion will provide covered parking and can be scheduled for entertainment events and community gatherings.
